Atlantic City -- inspiring the classic Monopoly real estate game with the upscale Boardwalk and cheaper Baltic -- yields retail landmarks from malls and discount outlets to glitzy casino shops and salt water taffy emporiums. Atlantic City Boardwalk and casino shops are filled with everything from tacky souvenirs to designer wear. The Pier at Caesars opened in summer 2006 at Arkansas Avenue and the Boardwalk, with elite retailers such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton and fine restaurants including Buddakan and Rumjungle. Steel's Fudge, founded in 1919 and with two locations on the Boardwalk, claims fame as the world's oldest family-owned continuously operated fudge company. James' Candy and Fralinger's Salt Water Taffy also keep things tasty on the boardwalk, as does Boardwalk Peanut Shoppe, with locations in the Sands, Trump Marina and Trump Plaza. Siganos Plaza, on the Boardwalk between Indiana and Martin Luther King Boulevard, features restaurants, plus retailers like the Flag Shop for assorted nations, Toon In for movie-related memorabilia, and GottaHaveIt, for whimsical and sequined musts.
The Tropicana Atlantic City Hotel and Casino recreates a bit of Old Havana at what's called The Quarter, with three floors of shopping, dining, theater and spa services in a complex bordering Pacific Avenue. Shore Mall has more than 60 stores including Boscov's, Value City, Circuit City, and Burlington Coat Factory. Mays Landing's Hamilton Mall, anchored by Macy's, JCPenney and Sears, has more than 140 specialty shops and an international food court. Hamilton Commons, on Black Horse Pike, boasts stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond and Ross. Atlantic City Outlets -- The Walk, on Michigan Avenue, includes Coach, Polo, Nautica and Levi's. Consumer Square, on Hamilton Township's Wrangleboro Road, has Old Navy, Best Buy, Target, Staples, and Kohl's. Days of Olde Antiques has booths filled with lamps, figurines and all kinds of furnishings reflective of yesteryear on the Jersey shore.
